PURPOSE:To obtain an ink jet printer capable of omitting a driving source for capping and a driving source for driving a pump mechanism and discharging ink outside, which has been sucked into a cap from an ink jet head at the time of a priming action. CONSTITUTION:A slider 29 is so provided as to slide from a home position toward a capping position, a priming position, and a cap release position in conjunction with an action of a carriage toward a non-printing area. A cap 30 is provided on the slider 29. A movement conversion part 37 progresses the cap 30 toward an ink jet head 24 at the capping position and the priming position by converting the linear movement of the slider 29. A pump mechanism 41 provided with an actuation part actuated by the sliding movement of the slider 29 as a driving source and actuated at the priming position and the cap release position is so disposed that the suction side thereof is connected to the inside of the cap 30. |
