PURPOSE: To provide an optical transmission system, with which possibility caused by the generation of a giant pulse because of a breakage accident can be avoided, concerning an optical transmission system for transmitting an optical signal on an optical waveguide body provided with an optical fiber amplifier. CONSTITUTION: The waveguide of an optical signal exists outside the maximum gain wavelength region of optical fiber amplifier 6, and an optical filter 7 having a stop band of a maximum gain wavelength area of the optical fiber amplifier 6 is provided before or after the optical fiber amplifier 6. The optical filter 7 includes an absorptive material having a narrow absorption band. |
