A file follower locking assembly (10) selectively locks and releases a follower plate (20) behind the files in a drawer (8) by using two opposed follower guides (22, 24) with eccentric cam grippers (42) to engage upper and lower surfaces (16a, 16b, 18a, and 18b) of open wall channels (16, 18) formed in the drawer sides (12, 14). In a first mode of operation, the cam grippers provide a firm gripping engagement with the upper and lower surfaces. The grippers are released for sliding movement of the assembly along the drawer in a second mode of operation. |
