PURPOSE:To make a magneto-optical detector thin by outgoing an emitting light from a light source in a parallel direction with the recording surface of a magneto-optical disk by using a composite prism. CONSTITUTION:A beam LA1 is emitted from a semiconductor laser 4 in the parallel direction with the recording surface of a magneto-optical disk 18, emitted in the direction of an optical axis as it is through a composite prism 35 and made incident on a reflection plate 36 through a cover glass 34. Then, the emitting light beam is reflected toward the magneto-optical disk 18 and converged on the disk through a condenser lens 16. The returned light from the disk is again made incident on the composite prism 35 through the condenser lens 16 and the reflection plate 36, made incident on a photodetector through a splitter film and a magneto-optical detection signal is obtained. Consequently, the constitution of the magneto-optical detector is made thin. |
