A color image recording apparatus is shown comprising: input means for inputting color image information; and image forming means for performing successively image formation based on image signals generated from said color image information; characterized by further comprising: mode selecting means for selecting a first recording mode in which a normal image recorded by said image forming means is recorded onto a first recording material and a second recording mode in which a mirror image recorded by said image forming means is recorded onto a second recording material; converting means for performing mirror image conversion of said color image information, the conversion being performed when said second recording mode is selected by said mode selecting means; color correcting means for performing color correction of said color image information; and means for changing correction parameters of said color correcting means according to the recording mode selected by said mode selecting means. Furthermore, a color image recording method is shown comprising the steps of: inputting color image information; selecting either a first recording mode in which a normal image is recorded onto a first recording material or a second recording mode in which a mirror image is recorded onto a second recording material in accordance with the recording material; performing mirror image conversion of said color image information when said second recording mode is selected; performing color correction of said color image information; changing correction parameters for said color correcting step according to the selected recording mode; and performing successively image formation based on image signals generated from said color image information. <IMAGE>
