PURPOSE:To realize an extra-high density recording by a method wherein a certain data pattern is recorded on a disc and then reproduced and, in accordance with the reproduced result, one of the two values, i.e., the pulse width of the record of a user data and a laser power, is controlled. CONSTITUTION:A certain pulse corresponding to a modulation method which is used for a position which is to be the reference of an arbitrary track is generated to form disc domains. One of the domains is used as a reference and a certain pulse is generated at a position which is apart from the position of the reference domain by a certain distance which is far enough not to have a thermal interference to record a second domain on a disc 2. The recorded domain is reproduced and at least a distance between a third domain and a fourth domain is measured and, in accordance with the result, at least one of the two values, i.e., the pulse width of the record of a user data and a laser power is controlled. With this constitution, information can be recorded with an approximately constant position discrepancy regardless of the recorded domain, so that an extra-high density optical recording can be realized. |
