PURPOSE:To provide a developing device where the excellent detection of the remaining quantity of developer by an optical detection means is compatible with the excellent carrying of the developer by a stirring member. CONSTITUTION:On a rotation center line 6d of the toner stirring member 6 set in a toner chamber 2 or a line substantially orthogonally crossed with the center line 6d near it, a pair of window members 7 and 8 through which light can be transmitted is provided on the upper and lower opposed wall surfaces of the toner chamber 2, and an aperture part 6c is formed on the stirring member 6, then the light emitting element 9a and the light receiving element 9b of the optical detection member 9 are provided outside the window members 8 and 7. Therefore, the members 7 and 8 are provided so that they may not be projected in the rotational trace of a stirring blade 6b at the leading edge of the member 6, and they may make a right angle with the optical path L of the member 9, whereby the remaining quantity of toner is excellently detected by the member 9, the deformation of the member 6 is prevented, and the feeding of the toner is excellently performed by the member 6. |
