Treatment of non-conductive e.g. plastic, wood or glass objects to be coated with powdered paint

The treatment proceeds in three stages. In the first stage a layer of a conductive adherent material is placed on the non-conductive object to be treated. The object is then held at a reference potential through a connection to the conductive layer. The treatment material is then transferred to the object by electrostatic projection.The metallic layer is removed from the object being treated by mechanical or physico-chemical processing. If the treatment is painting of the object, deposition of the paint is followed by a fixing process such as drying or polymerisation.
