Monorail conveyor system with several motor operated carriages

The motor-operated carriages (10) each with their own drive wheel (13) move on a suspended rail (11). A pinion (17) connected to a drive shaft (19) engages in a toothed rod (18) which on some rail sections serves to move the carriages when the drive wheel slips in these areas. The pinion can rotate freely opposite the drive shaft within an angle predetermined between the outermost positions through end stops for the free movement.The pinion is pressed in a central position by elastic members (22) and on reaching a rail section with toothed rod the pinion is moved unimpeded against the action of these elastic elements. When the wheel begins to slip the pinion takes over the drive when it is in the corresponding outermost position for free movement on the shaft.
