The apparatus for automatically monitoring a visitor is disclosed including an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter, an image catcher for temporarily storing one-screen data of a digital signal converted from the A/D converter, an image memory for recording the one-screen data, a memory controller for reading out the one-screen data, a comparator for comparing the outputs of the A/D converter and the image memory, an alarm, a TV set, a system controller for transmitting a system control signal to a video tape recorder, a character generator for displaying date, time, etc. on a monitor of the TV set, thereby seeing a situation during observer's absence.
