<p>An optical filtering method and element for selectively transmitting radiation incident upon a first surface of the filtering element. The method comprises the steps of identifying the constituents of the filtering element, including an optically suitable substrate and a translucent polymeric coating formulation having desired optical transmission properties, fabricating a polymeric coating based on that formulation, and applying the coating to the substrate in a thin layer. The coating may be applied by screen-printing, pad printing or spray coating. The invention is useful in aerospace lighting applications including night vision lighting applications.</p> |
