PURPOSE:To prevent the density gradations of an image signal after an edge emphasizing processing from deviating from a prescribed range by the edge emphasizing device for the image signal. CONSTITUTION:The image signal edge emphasizing device EG which performs an edge emphasizing process for the original image signal corresponding to the variation of density gradations of the image signal is equipped with an amplitude limitation part EG2 which outputs a specific upper-limit value LMAX as an edge-emphasized signal in a period wherein the density gradations of the edge-emphasized signal exceed the upper-limit value LMAX or outputs a specific lower-limit value LMIN as an edge-emphasized signal in a period wherein the density gradations of the edge-emphasized signal decreases below the lower-limit value LMIN. |
