PURPOSE:To achieve fine phosphor application even in a thick film printing method, and radiate UV-ray on phosphor effectively by providing a step between a display anode and a phosphor applied surface, and setting the phosphor applied surface closer to a cathode without changing a discharge distance between the cathode and the display anode. CONSTITUTION:A display anode 21 and an auxiliary anode 22 are formed on an upper surface of a backing plate 20 by printing. Except for the display anode 21 and the auxiliary anode 22, anode overcoat is printed for about five times continuously to form a thick anode overcoat 23 of a thickness of about L3. Except for the auxiliary anode 22 and a part of a cell partion wall 24 on the anode overcoat 23, phosphor 25 is applied by printing. The cell partition wall 24 is then formed on it at a thickness L4 in a thick film printing method. A front surface plate 26 having a cathode 27 is then positioned and assembled, and a display cell space 28 and an auxiliary discharge cell space 29 are formed. By thus forming the thick anode overcoat before printing application of the phosphor 25, a step of about 100 is formed between the display anode and the phosphor applied surface. |
