The support basket (2) which can be pushed in the water channels of the fitting and presses the elastic shaped body radially tightly against the wall of the water channel is made in two ring-like sleeve parts (2a,2b) each having on an end side at a distance from each other moulded snap fitting legs. The two parts adjoin the inner wall of the shaped body and when fitted in same axially lock with each other through the snap legs (21). Longitudinal slits in the area of the legs form free spaces (213) of about 1 to 2 mm preventing mechanical particles carried along in the water from directly attacking the elastic shaped body. The support body is made from two identical injection moulded parts. USE/ADVANTAGE - Low cost mfr. of noise-damping insert for sanitary fittings using only one mould for the two parts. Easier assembly of the elastic body with the support parts.
