<p>An automatic quick-release bayonet-type coupling/de-coupling is provided for co-operating connectible parts, such as plug and socket parts (1, 2) of an electrical connector. The parts become fully coupled together in response to rotation of a coupling nut (3) rotatably mounted on one of the parts and provided with helical tracks (5) for receiving respective bayonet pins (6) on the other part. Spring based latches (9) are provided at blocking positions near bayonet pin exit points (8) from the tracks so that a predetermined tensile force between the coupled parts causes the latches (9) to be displaced automatically against spring biasing forces exerted thereon so that the bayonet pins (6) can then move out of their respective tracks (5) at the exit points (8) to permit automatic separation and de-coupling of the parts.</p> |
