A scanning station is used with a stationary or movable arrangement of optical three-dimensional sensors providing the spatial coordinates of a scanned head or face, converted into absolute coordinates for a machine coordinate system, via a processor. The individual measured data sets for the different views are combined to provide full coordinates of the face of head to be duplicated, used by a numerical machining system to provide the puppet head or mask. USE/ADVANTAGE - Allows mfr. or individual puppets or masks representing real people in economical manner to satisfy individual clients or copy celebrities. Features presented by nature relieves puppet maker of contriving new types to keep interest alive, since nature never repeats herself.
