<p>PURPOSE: To accurately synchronize a drum beat and the other musical events with the movement of the hands of a drum player through the use of a prediction method for deciding time when a baton beats a surface. CONSTITUTION: Electronic drums 102 and 104 have transmitters 142 and 144 and the drums have tablets 124 having flat supporting members for deciding the present X, Y and Z-coordinates of the baton transmitters. Two pairs of connected electrodes exist in the flat supporting members. The first or second pair of electrodes are formed so that capacitive connection quantity between the respective baton transmitters and one of a first pair of electrodes corresponds to the position of the baton transmitters on an X or Y-axis. The drums have CPU for receiving signals from the electrodes and using the signals for calculating the X, Y and Z-coordinates of the batons. Since CPU predicts time when the respective baton transmitters beat the flat supporting members of the drums and the signals are generated at predicted time, a music synthesizer generates sound at appropriate time.</p> |
