摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the wavelength conversion element which can be automatically matched with the light emitted from a light source which fluctuates largely in wavelength by disposing a wavelength dispersion element for spuriously matching the polarization inversion period of the wavelength conversion element body with the wavelength of incident light between the wavelength conversion element body and the light source. CONSTITUTION:This wavelength conversion element has the wavelength conversion element 4 which is alternately formed with at least polarization inversion regions 42 and polarization non-inversion regions 43 on a ferroelectric substance substrate 41 and outputs the second harmonic wave of the incident coherent light on the incident end. The wavelength dispersion element 5 for spuriously matching the polarization inversion period of the wavelength conversion element body 4 with the wavelength of incident light is disposed between the incident end of the wavelength conversion element 4 and the light source. The wavelength conversion element 5 is disposed between the incident end of the wavelength conversion element 4 and the light source, by which the polarization inversion period of the wavelength conversion element body is automatically matched with the wavelength fluctuation of the incident light as the basic light.
