PURPOSE: To obtain a polyhedron strong to the impact of a bullet by bringing the one chamfered surface of one part into contact with the one chamfered surface of a second part at a supporting surface and welding the parts to each other with single pass and at a high energy density at the supporting surface. CONSTITUTION: The two polygonal parts obtained by cutting a metal plate, such as an armor plate, produced from steel having extremely high hardness are assembled. The flat chamfered surface inclined with the surfaces of the parts is formed along at least one end of each of the two parts. The respective parts are installed at an assembly position and the chamfered surface 10 of the one part is brought into contact with the chamfered surface 11 of the second part at the supporting surface. The parts are welded to each other in the single path at the supporting surface by using the welding method, such as laser welding or electronic beam welding, having the high energy density without using filler metal. As a result, the armor plate may be assembled from the steel having the high resisting force to the impact of the bullet. |
