摘要 In a process and appts. for rapid detection of radionuclides with at least one gamma line in transport containers, the novelty is that (i) the container is moved relative to the probe and a sweep comparison of the respective quotients of the standard deviations (or variances or the modified quotients) of the Poisson and normal distributions with a value determined by the number of measurements is made over a preselected number of measurement values and adjustable time periods in several energy ranges; (ii) the container is moved relative to the probe and a sweep calculation and comparison of the gradients with a positive or negative value determined by the number of measurements is made over a preselected number of measurement values and adjustable time periods in several energy ranges; (c) the container is moved relative to the probe and a sweep calculation and comparison of the excesses with a positive or negative value determined by the number of measurement values is made over a preselected number of measurement values and adjustable time periods in several energy ranges. USE/ADVANTAGE - In security checkpoints (e.g. at international airports) to prevent illegal transport of radioactive material, for control of waste transport, for detecting nuclear-powered submarines, for detecting transport of nuclear munitions, as a rapid warning system for nuclear power station incidents, etc. The process allows detection of radionuclides in a few seconds with high statistical reliability.
