Class 52(2) The back-rest of a vehicle or other seat has a support for the small of the back adjustable vertically and with respect to the depth of the seat. A leaf spring 2 carrying at its lower end 3 a plate 1 has at its upper end a pin 4 serving as a swivel pin and insertable in transversely-extending grooves 6 in a mounting 5 secured to the seat frame 7. Adjustment in the direction of the depth of the seat is effected by means of a bolt 9 with handhold 10 and screwed into a sliding block 11 displaceable in a slot 13 in mounting 5, the free end of bolt 9 engaging in leaf spring 2. In a modification (Fig. 4) mounting 15 is welded to the frame 7 and a leafspring 2a has a bent-over portion 16 engaging in a recess 12a. A bolt 9b is screwed into a sliding block 11a which engages in one of a number of circular recesses and is retained therein by means of a spring 21. Alternatively, (Fig. 6) a nut 22 is screwed on to an outer thread of a sliding block 23 and the end 9c of the bolt has a screw bolt 24 screwed into a nut 25 connected to the leaf spring. In another modification the device is made interchangeable, the mounting 29 having a pin 30 (Fig. 8) engaging a hole in frame 7 and telescopic tubes 31, 32 lockable by screw 35 and having pins 33, 34 engaging frame members 7a. In another embodiment (Fig. 14) the limbs 7b are not transversely connected together and two attachments 29a and two leaf springs 2a are provided. In a further modification (Fig. 9) vertical adjustment is obtained by providing the cross-member 36 with rollers 38 engaging limbs 37, springs 39 supporting the frame at a particular height, the back-rest frame 40 being also adjustable in height by means of rollers 41 and springs 42. In a still further modification (Fig. 12) a support means 44 has ties 45 engaging limbs 7a and a spring 2 engages in an aperture 46 and carries at its lower end supporting elements 50 rigidly or pivotally mounted, a screw 51 providing adjustment. |
