Novel peptide compounds, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds as useful pharmacological agents in the control of hyperproliferative disease such as cancer and in the treatment of viral, inflammatory, allergic, and cardiovascular disease. The peptides in salt form or nonsalt form comprise a tyrosine phosphorylation site of phospholipase C- gamma 1 (PLC- gamma 1) wherein the tyrosine is modified, such that in a cellular process the peptide inhibits the EGF receptor tyrosine kinase.
