A load carrier comprises a load carrier strut (1) extending over a vehicle roof (8) and having, in each end, a foot (3) for securing on the vehicle. The foot (3) has a footplate (4) for abutment against the vehicle and a clamping device (5) for securing on the vehicle. According to the invention, the footplate (4) and the foot (3) have two support surfaces (13, 14 and 10, 11, respectively) which are pairwise movable into load-transferring cooperation with one another, the pairs being in spaced apart relationship in the lateral direction of the vehicle. The position of cooperation is movable between the pairs by mutual rotation of the footplate (4) and the foot (3) about an axis of rotation which is longitudinal in relation to the vehicle. |
