PURPOSE:To obviate the need of adjusting spring force by detecting the residual quantity of ink in an ink jet printer based on the displacement of a member being displaced according to pressure variation in an ink liquid supply path. CONSTITUTION:The detector 10 for residual quantity of ink comprises an upper member 11, a lower member 12, and a diaphragm 13 made of a variable member and interposed between, wherein the diaphragm 13 constitutes the upper wall of an ink liquid chamber 14 for preventing leakage of ink liquid. The diaphragm 13 is coupled with a shaft 15 mounting a movable electrode(displacement member) 16 such that the position thereof can be adjusted and the movable electrode 16 is displaced integrally with the diaphragm 13. Movement of the diaphragm is adjusted by adjusting the position of the movable electrode 16 until the movable electrode comes into contact with a fixed electrode 18a. |
