PURPOSE:To remove the slackening or flotation of paper even during printing (during the running of paper) and prevent the generation of smudge due to line feed pitch jamming or the contact with a printing head and the deterioration of printing quality due to the fluctuations of the distance between a printing head and paper. CONSTITUTION:In an ink jet printer applying printing on the paper 1 fed by a paper feed roller by the ink emitted from the ink nozzles of an ink jet recording head 7, an optical rotary encoder 23 being a paper slackening detection means and a detection lever 24 are provided on the way of the paper feed route from a paper feed-in position to a printing position and the paper feed roller is stopped on the basis of the detection output from the paper slackening detection means. Further, a control circuit 22 driving the slackening removing roller 10 on the downstream side of the ink jet recording head to remove the slackening of the paper 1 is provided. |
