Bed suitable for weighing invalid persons - uses mattress frame which may articulate or remain rigid by positioning chain and cable loop

A mattress (M) is carried on a semi-flexible support (E) supported by a frame (S). The mattress frame (S) has head (S1) and feet (S3) sections and an intermediate articulating section (S2). The ensemble may be adjusted for patient comfort or made flat and rigid for weighing. The periphery of the mattress frame has at its two ends (1,2) guiding channels which contain a cable and chain loop encircling the frame. When the vertically-linked chain is in the central position, the frame is flat and rigid for weighing. ADVANTAGE - Bed allows accurate weighing in flat and rigid position combined with flexible articulation in use.
