The machine forms points on both ends of wooden components in a packet (4,5), having first and second travelling tables (6,7) with loading sides (8,9) towards each other. These travel along parallel guides between the loading position for the components and the discharge one for them with the points formed on them. A transverse transport mechanism (16,17) on each table works in both directions. A clamping mechanism for the packets is mounted on the opposite side to the loading side, acting in the lateral and vertical directions. Stops (30,31) at the clamping sides align the component end faces for machining,which is done by stationary tools (34-37) at this side. Initial alignment mechanisms (38,39) at the table loading sides have stops (40,41) moved in and out of the paths of the components and acting against their end faces. These mechanisms can include vibrators (42,43) for the components, also lateral clamps (44) for the packets,and conveyor belts (50) for the components working between guides (56,71,73).
