PURPOSE:To provide an automatic measuring method by which accumulation of errors is not brought about and the displacing work is simple and hence, can be finished in a short time and accurate displacing works are not essential and further the position of a shielding machine can be automatically measured. CONSTITUTION:The position of a total station 7 is measured by a measuring method. A target 3 is measured by the total station 7 mounted on a carrier 5 which is in a stationary state to measure the position of the target 3 of a shielding machine 1 which is moving forward. When the shielding machine moves forward by a specified distance, the shielding machine is forced to stop and the carrier 5 is transferred and then the total station 7 is displaced. The position of the stationary target 3 is stored in the memory of the shielding machine and the position of displaced total station can be reversely calculated by measuring the position of target 3 with the total station 7 transferred. In this way, the position of the shielding machine 1 under excavation can be measured by the same procedure as in the above-mentioned way, by use of the displaced total station 7 as a reference point. |
