PURPOSE:To provide a gas decontamination treatment wherein a small amount of volatile organic substances contained in gas can be removed extremely easily at low cost. CONSTITUTION:On performing decontamination treatment of gas containing volatile organic substances, gas to be treated is first subjected to irradiation of ultraviolet rays having wavelength of 200nm or less 13 and then to irradiation of ultraviolet rays having wavelength of 220nm or more 14, following which the gas is brought into contact with a filter medium carrying ion-exchange groups 15.
