The test appts. comprises a measuring enclosure (11) into which is placed the container (13) whose gas-tightness is to be monitored. The enclosure can be pressurised or de-pressurised through a valve (14) connected to a double acting cylinder and piston assembly ((15,17). A reference enclosure (24) is connected to the test enclosure (11) and a differential pressure gauge (25) allows comparison and analysis of the pressures during the test. The appts. allows the gas-tightness of the container to be checked and the flow rate through any leak to be measured under low pressure and high pressure conditions. USE - Simplified testing of gastight enclosures using single measuring instrument detecting inward and outward leaks.
