Solid fuel comprising rigid thermoplastic, non-elastomeric material - with defined tensile strength and resistance to compression, esp. for propulsion of rocket engine

A solid fuel comprises a rigid, thermoplastic. non-elastomer material, with tensile strength above 13.8 MPa and resistance to compression above 34.5 MPa. Pref. the thermoplast has fusion temp. above 120 deg.C, and is esp. polypropylene, polybutylene, polymethylpentene, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, polyacrylonitrile, polyethylene terephthalate, polyamide or polyacetal. In a pref. process projectile is propelled with a rocket engine, launched from a gun, to reach an inertial speed, using a solid fuel, the solid fuel comprising the rigid thermoplast. USE/ADVANTAGE - The fuel is used for propulsion of rocket engines. The engine can be launched from a gun without affecting the efficiency of the fuel, esp. by sec. propulsion systems. Mfr. is quick and easy.
