An electrophotographic printing or copying machine has a cooling device (K) for the heated recording medium arranged downstream of the thermofixing device (W) in the direction of transport of the copying medium. The cooling device (K) consists of a cooling saddle through which the cooling medium flows and which has a cooling surface (19) over which the recording medium is guided so as to cover the cooling surface (19). The cooling surface may have air outlets (20) through which air is supplied into a gap between the copying medium (17) and the cooling surface (19) so as to form an air cushion. Additional cooling devices may be provided for further cooling the copying medium by generating a current of cooling air blown over the surface of the copying medium against its direction of transport.
