A coil spring device (10) comprises a coil spring (13) formed of a spiral wire (1) having a first end (11) and a second end (12), a first end support mechanism (15) supporting the first end (11) of the wire (1), and a second end support mechanism (16) supporting the second end (12) of the wire (1). The paired support mechanisms (15, 16) are movable relatively to each other in the axial direction of the coil spring (13). The first support mechanism (15) supports the first end (11) of the wire (1) for rotation only around a first diametrical axis (A1) which extends toward a coil central axis (C). The second support mechanism (16) supports the second end (12) of the wire (1) for rotation only around a second diametrical axis (A2) which extends toward the central axis (C).
