<p>PURPOSE:To make a power steering device function as a manual steering device surely and immediately if any inoperative fault occurs in a motor. CONSTITUTION:An electrically operated power steering device is composed of a motor M1 to drive a steering linkage member S through a clutch C, a steering condition detecting device M2 to detect the steering conditions, and a control device M3 to control the motor according to the steering conditions. It is provided with a rotational speed detecting device M4 to detect the rotational speed of the motor and a rotational acceleration detecting device M5 to detect the rotational acceleration of the motor. When the rotational speed of the motor is substantially zero, and the absolute value of the rotational acceleration of the motor exceeds a specified limit, a clutch is disengaged by a clutch disengagement device M6 to switch over the device to a manual steering mode.</p> |
