发明名称 Decontamination of chemical warfare gas contaminated items and enclosed spaces - by silica gel adsorption
摘要 In the decontamination of materials/spaces poisoned by chemical warfare agents, the toxic agent contained in the air, or desorbed from contaminated surfaces to the atmosphere, within a sealed room, are taken-up by an adsorbent. Smaller contaminated objects are placed inside a closeable container (10) which has an air heater/circulation device (12) to assist in desorption of the chemical contaminant and wall mounted adsorber elements (11) which may be cooled to improve adsorption. e.g. 50 mg of a chemical warfare agent, SLOST were applied dropwise to a an alkyd resin plate which was then put into a container together with plates of PLEXIGLAS (TM) (2), glass (3), alkyd resin (4), and an adsorber plate containing silica gel; each plate being of 200 cm2 area. USE/ADVANTAGE - Decontamination of awkwardly accessible/irregularly shaped surfaces e.g. vehicle interiors, telephone kiosks, electronic equipment, clothing, etc. Simplicity and absence of mechanical/moving parts.
