The occupant restraint flap (4) has a bend zone (9) formed at a distance from the swivel axis and arranged parallel to the axis. On inflation the air bag (6) impacts first against the part of the flap furthest from the swivel axis and near to the bend zone. The flap is swung outwards with a section bent in the outward direction, and in consequence with a reduced swivel radius. ADVANTAGE - Allows the air bag flaps to deform as they open, so avoiding the danger of injury after the air bag has deflated.
