PURPOSE: To provide a communication cable with relatively large numbers of communication transmission-media having properties of low corrosiveness, low toxicity, low fire spreading and low smoke generation, and thereby suitable for an air charging room of a building by composing its core and jacket of specific nonhaloganated plastic materials. CONSTITUTION: This cable 20 comprises a core 22 and a jacket 29. The core 22 contains relatively large numbers of communication transmission media 24. Each of the communication transmission media 24 is sealed with a plastic material selected from a group composed of polyetherimide, silicone-polyimide copolymer and mixture of them. The jacket 29, which seals the core 22, comprises a plastic material made of silicone-polyimide copolymer and a system that enhances a flame delaying and smoke suppressing characteristics of the cable 20 sufficiently enough to protect the relatively large numbers of transmission media 24. This system contains titanium dioxide and zinc borate at a rate of 0.5wt.% each (about 20% in total) in the jacket 29. |
