PURPOSE:To provide a novel compound exhibiting an antitumor property against human tumors, especially malignant tumor. CONSTITUTION:The compound JS 49 of the formula. Melting point: 131-135 deg.C; solubility: soluble in methanol, ethanol; slightly soluble in chloroform, acetone, etc.; insoluble in hexane, water; high resolution mass spectrum (m/z): (M+H) <+>465, 2219; molecular formula: C23H32N2O8. The compound is obtained by culturing a JS 49-producing bacterium [e.g. Streptomyces.violaceusiniger-JS 49 strain (FERN BP-3997)] belonging to the genus Streptomyces and subsequently collecting the compound from the culture product. The culture is preferably performed at 25-30 deg.C by an aerobic liquid medium culture method. The collection of the JS 49 from the culture product is carried out e.g. by subjecting the culture filtrate or cell filtrate to an adsorption treatment using an adsorbent such as silica gel and subsequently eluting the adsorbed JS 49 with a solvent. |
