PURPOSE:To form images of excellent picture quality on normal paper and to reduce the size, cost and power consumption of a recording device by heating an image holder on which a toner image is formed, while pressing the holder into contact with recording paper. CONSTITUTION:An image holding member 1 taking the form of an endless belt is used. An unfixed toner image 11 is transferred and fixed onto recording paper 5 by softening and melting a conductive magnetic toner 8, forming the unfixed toner image 11, by means of heating from the back of the image holding member 1 using a heater 4. The conductive magnetic toner 8 softened and melted is transferred from the image holding member 1 onto the recording paper 5 when the force between the recording paper 5 and the toner is greater than the force between the image holding member 1 and the toner 8. As pressure is applied to the recording paper 5 by a pressure roller 6 the toner is further heated by the heater 4 and is therefore fixed onto the recording paper 5 and a fixed toner image 12 is formed. |
