PURPOSE:To reduce production cost by enabling automation and highly efficient work for polishing of the peripheral edges of a plate material. CONSTITUTION:A work is fixed on a work table 10, and both first and second polishing units 100 and 200 are moved along the side edge of the work table 10. The polishing units 100 and 200 are provided with a belt polishing mechanism 130 in which an endless sanding belt is stretched drivingly between multiple rollers, and the opposed angle of them relative to the edge of the work can be varied by a frame rotating mechanism 160. Thus the side edge of a plate material and its upper and lower lines can be polished by the sanding belt 131.
