PURPOSE:To efficiently decompose fluorocarbon at a normal temp. in a normal pressure into such a material that does not break the ozone stratosphere without using special chemicals by bringing fluorocarbon into contact with a reductive material in the presence of a catalyst consisting of noble metal deposited on a carrier having resistance against hydrogen fluoride. CONSTITUTION:Fluorocarbon is brought into contact with a reductive material (e.g. hydrogen) in the presence of such a catalyst consisting of hydrogen fluoride- resistant carrier (e.g. silica) and 0.05-5wt.% noble metal (e.g. platinum). Decomposition of fluorocarbon is implemented at a normal temp. and a normal pressure, and as necessary, the reaction rate may be increased by increasing the temp. of the fluid and catalyst floor. The adding amt. of the reductive material is selected from stoichiometric amt. or larger amt. Thereby, fluorocarbon can efficiently be decomposed into such a matter which does not cause the fracture of ozone layer without using special chemicals. |
