Rest base (1) for an iron (5), comprising a housing (2) intended to rest on a worktop (3) and containing a water tank (4) for feeding the said iron (5) by means of a flexible pipe (6), as well as an upper resting surface (7) intended for the iron (5) and fitted with insulating studs (8). According to the invention, the base (1) comprises positioning means intended for keeping the said resting surface (7) either in a position virtually parallel to the worktop (3) or in a position inclined relative to the worktop (3).
