PURPOSE: To provide an active material of a hydrogen storage alloy electrode for an alkali battery. CONSTITUTION: This active material has a composition expressed by a formula GDu [where G is a composite selected from among a group composed of rare earths (NaLi5 and so on), titanium (TiNi an so on), calcium (CaNi5 and so on), and zirconium (ZrMn and so on), D is an alkali metallic element, and u is an integer of 0 or more]. The active material continuously releases alkali metal ions M in the process of charge-discharge process of an alkali battery to increase the MOH concentration in a battery, whereby an effect of protecting a cathode and anode is produced, and the cycle life time and discharge capacity of a battery can be improved. |
