PURPOSE:To provide a new communication equipment capable of remotely controlling an external apparatus such as a video recording/reproducing device or a television(TV) device from the external through a public line. CONSTITUTION:A tone signal for remotely controlling a VTR is inputted from an opposite terminal through a public line and a network control part 1, the signal is detected by a tone detecting part 6 and numerical data and mark codes '#', '*' are informed to a network control part 1. A control part 7 analyzes the sort of an instruction based upon the combination of the data, and when in the case of a remote control instruction for a VTR or a TV device, the VTR or the TV device is controlled through a remote control signal transmitting part 12. When an instruction from the opposite terminal is a VTR reserving instruction, the control part 7 stores a reserved date or reserved contents in a storage part 11, monitors a real time clock 10, and when the reserved date and time arrive, controls the VTR through the transmitting part 12 based upon the reserved contents. |
