PURPOSE:To reduce an erroneous judgement at the time of the judgement of the quality of a character printed on an article. CONSTITUTION:The character to be inspected printed on a video cassette VC is photographed by video cameras 11A-11E, and inspected character picture signals are obtained. And also, reference character picture signals preliminarily written in the reference character information memories of picture processing parts 19A-19E are read, and compared with the inspected character picture signals. Then, when the quality of the character to be inspected is rejected from the compared result, the alignment start position of the inspected character picture signals with the reference character picture signals is changed, and the inspected character picture signals are compared with the reference character picture signals again. Then, when the number of time of re-comparison is set, the alignment start position is changed each time the re-comparison is operated. |
