The digital video picture editor has a function for replacing a part of a picture by a part of another picture using an edit window. The editor includes a LAS counter (2) for counting LAS addresses of a moving picture window and a back ground picture window, a CAS counter (3) for counting CAS addresses of a moving picture window and a background picture window, a control signal generator (11) for generating a first, a second and a third control signal according to CAS and LAS addresses of a moving and a background picture window, a LAS counter multiplier (4) for selecting output of the LAS counter (3) according to the third control signal, a CAS counter multiplier (5) for selecting output of the CAS counter (5) according to the third control signal, and a first and a second field memory (6,7) for outputting image data corresponding to address designated by the MUX's (4,5).
