TRUCK ROLLER BEARING FLOATING SLEEVE DEVICE

PURPOSE: To eliminate early destruction due to fatigue destruction and uneven wear by providing a bearing assembly provided with a sleeve having an outer face in the radial direction and an inner face in the radial direction. CONSTITUTION: A track roller bearing has a floating sleeve 50 between an inner race 10 and an outer race 20. The floating sleeve 50 has a self-lubricating bearing material 52 on its outer surface. The coefficient of friction of the self- lubricating bearing material 52 increases as the self-lubricating material is worn. When the self-lubricating bearing material coefficient of friction exceeds the coefficient of friction of an inner surface of the floating sleeve 50, the floating sleeve 50 rotates with the outer race 20 until a new unworn surface of the self-lubricating bearing material 52 is presented to the load area of the outer race 20. This precessing of the floating sleeve 50 continues until the entire surface area of the self-lubricating bearing material 52 is worn, thus extending the track roller bearing life.
