PURPOSE: To accurately measure neopterin, even in a fresh humor by adding an oxidizing agent to a reagent being used for treating a humor in an immuoassay of neopterin, employing a specific antibody for neopterin and a detection system. CONSTITUTION: An oxidizing agent is added to a reagent being used for treating a humor in an immuoassary of neopterin. Appropriate oxidizing agents include potassium or sodium hexacyanoferrate (III), ferrate (III)/chelate agent, peroxosulfate, peroxoborate, or nitropruside wherein the concentration of potassium hexacyanoferrate (III) is preferably 0.05-100mmol/l, and more preferably 0.5-50mol/l. The oxidizing agent has high ion intensity and used as an aqueous solution buffered in the range of pH5-10, preferably of pH7-8. The concentration is set in the range of 50-300mmol/l, preferably of 150-250mmol/l. More specifically incubation of reactive elements is performed entirely under the presence of an oxidizing agent.
