The engine has a cylinder (C) with a cylinder head, a camshaft (111) for a valve gear, parallel to crankshaft (100), and a centrifugal speed governor (6) on the camshaft, with counterweights for centrifugal force. The camshaft is fitted in a plane, contg. the centre lines of the crankshaft and the cylinder between the crankshaft and the cylinder head. Pref. the engine has a carburettor with a throttle, a lever coupler (114-116) on the speed governor, coupled to the carburettor throttle, and a spring adjuster (120) for the lever coupler. USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact speed governor and its lever mechanism is used for IC engine driving portable tool.
