PREPARATION OF ARTIFICIAL MARBLE BY EXTRUSION MOLDING

PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance and to avoid thermal cracking by using a specified acrylic resin powder as a matrix resin. CONSTITUTION:A molding material is fed from a hopper 5 and kneaded by means of a screw 3 while it is melted and softened by heating in a cylinder 2 and is extruded into a specified shape from an extrusion die 8 through a constricted part 7. Then, the extruded item extruded from the extrusion die is cooled by means of a water-cooling jacket equipped on a forming die 9 where it is passed through the forming die 9 and is molded into a specified crosssectional shape to manufacture a solidified molded body A. When this solidifying extrusion molding is performed, the solidifying extrusion molding operation is performed by setting the extrusion temp. by means or an extruder at 180-220 deg.C and the cooling temp. of the molded body by means of the forming die at 150 deg.C or lower. It is possible thereby to perform continous molding of an artificial marble with high quality without any trouble.
